Finding Your Way: A Newcomer's Guide to Hackenthorpe Community Church

Stepping into a new church for the first time can feel daunting. We want to make sure your first visit to Hackenthorpe Community Church is warm, welcoming, and straightforward. Here's what you need to know.

What time should I arrive? Our main Sunday service begins at 10:30 AM. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early, which gives you time to find parking, grab a cup of tea or coffee, and settle into a seat without rushing. There's no need to dress formally – come as you are.

Where do I sit? There's no reserved seating at Hackenthorpe Community Church. Simply choose any seat that looks comfortable. Our stewards, identifiable by their name badges, are happy to show you around if you'd prefer guidance.

Will I be put on the spot? Not at all. We don't single out visitors during the service or expect you to participate in anything you're not comfortable with. You're welcome to observe, listen, and take your time getting to know our community.

What about children? We have a dedicated children's area for ages 0-11 during the main service, with trained volunteers and age-appropriate activities. Older children are welcome to sit with their families or join our youth group, which meets separately.

Is there somewhere to leave my coat and bag? Yes, we have a cloakroom near the main entrance. Our volunteers can point you towards it when you arrive.

What happens after the service? Many people stay for refreshments in our fellowship hall – it's a great opportunity to chat informally with other members. You're welcome to stay or leave as you prefer. There's no pressure either way.

How do I find out more? Our welcome team can answer any questions you might have. We also have information leaflets available, and you can visit our website or call us on the number listed there. If you'd like to explore faith further, we run a free introductory course called "Christianity Explored" several times a year.

Remember, Hackenthorpe Community Church is a place for people at all stages of their faith journey. Whether you're curious about Christianity, returning after a break, or looking for a new church home, you belong here. We look forward to meeting you.
